CU Gala (image)
600+ Joined Us at the Courage Unmasked - 9114HNC Gala on 9/9/09!
On Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 6-9 pm, more than 600 participants attended the first annual Courage Unmasked event to raise money and awareness for head and neck cancer (HNC). More than 100 artists from all over the country created fine art by transforming radiation masks formerly worn by HNC patients to position and immobilize their heads during treatment. These unique masterpieces were auctioned at the gala, which was held at the magnificent venue, the American University Museum at the Katzen Art Center, at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016.
The gala also featured the debut of a short documentary, Courage Unmasked: Giving A Voice to the Oral Cancer Survivors, produced by Fulvia Musti Ciarla with videography by Per Hoel. DVDs are still available for purchase, and all proceeds from their sale go directly into the fund, Courage Unmasked - 9114HNC, to help needy head and neck cancer patients.

Masks that were not sold will be featured in an exhibit at Pyramid Atlantic's Art Gallery during the month of October. As soon as dates are finalized, we will announce the details here.
Many thanks to all who gave their support by attending the event, purchasing masks, and donating to this cause.
